Viðartrú is a small branch of Heiðni dedicated to reviving the green, to reintegrating into nature. We believe
that as we were created as integral parts of the whole of nature, we may progress
only when we move within the natural cycles; and that nature, represented for
us as a thriving forest, is our home - to guard, defend, and enrich.
We believe that in the pursuit of upholding excellence in action, trú human
beings are ideally the exemplars of proper behaviour. We take with the vyrd
of humanity the stewardship of the living creatures with which we cohabit this
world. Our lives should be filled with pleasure, beauty, humour, love, music,
food and everything else that brings joy. But only that joy brought about by
actions we've done that were right and true is true everlasting joy, and joy
found in the destruction of others whether in resources, mind, body or spirit,
is not something set into the original vyrd of man, and leads to nothing but
his own destruction.
We believe in positive ethics, and these should be based upon self-esteem,
mutual respect, increase of benefit to the natural world, and love. Impact
of our actions upon others, our family, the family of our tribal ancestry,
the family of mankind, and the family of nature, come before anyone's personal
desires, although ideally, our needs will all be met in holding to this as
our duty. This naturally implies that men and women need to first find their
deepest roots again, and this may only be done through personal and spiritual
transformation. Only then do true ethics begin to flow spontaneously from
the heart of man.
These pages are written from a purely heithinn perspective. We live, as far
as possible, in an integrated state, intertwined with the cycles of season
and self. All things unhealthy originate from attempting to live spiritually
isolated. Wanton destruction, the irrational need to conquer, own and destroy
the ‘unknown', and foremost fear and all of its ramifications such as bigotry
- all spring from the artificial isolation we have gained from placing the
spirit of man outside the realm of nature. Within there are suggestions, ideas
and concepts sprung from the Northern perspective and yes, subjective to our
way, for breaking down that imposed paradigm and getting back to our origins.
If you've set yourself on the Northern path, you may view things differently,
which is healthy, yet you may also come to understand our experience more in
depth. The rewards of an open mind to the experience of others are impossible
to tell. This is not re-creation of the past, though the past has many valuable
things to offer we long ago chose to discard and allowed to wither on the vine.
We do live in this age, and there is no denying it; separated from our tribal
past by many centuries, and subject to the whims of these new societies and
paradigms of which we seldom share their value systems. Yet adaptation has
been given to us, and so has long memory. We have been gifted higher will,
and can consciously choose to use what suits us, what truly works to integrate
us and aide our spiritual evolution, or we can choose yet again to discard
the gifts we've been given, that we are given anew every single day of our
lives.
If you would like to discuss the details, or share your own experience, do
so, if you would like to vehemently disagree, come to our forum. Life is about
learning from each other. The creed herein is Courtesy, Courage, Honesty, and
Love.
